Skills in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening and Grammar

BEGINNER 1: No skills
BEGINNER 2: Understanding a short text with simple sentences on familiar topics. Filling in forms and writing something very simple about yourself. Knowing how to introduce yourself and greet people. Answering simple questions (name, job and nationality). Understanding simple sentences and instructions if pronounced clearly. Also asking a few questions. Some verbs in the present form, articles, nouns and adjectives. Numbers (from 1 to 10) and some main prepositions.

INTERMEDIATE 1: Understanding a simple general text about family, traveling, sports or any other familiar topic. Writing short texts about yourself, your family, your house, your favorite sport or activity. Understanding questions when asked slowly and general language from a native speaker on a one-to-one conversation. Answering general questions about yourself and discussing on some topics. Taking part in an informal conversation. Present tense of regular and irregular verbs. Some future form. Likes and dislikes, have got. Numbers, prepositions. Rules to form the plural for adjectives and nouns.
INTERMEDIATE 2: Understanding texts of different sorts: letters, short newspaper and magazines articles and all kinds of advertisements. Writing simple letters, short compositions and dialogues on a variety of topics. Understanding general points discussed on television and radio programs. Following a story told by a native speaker. Answering different kinds of questions if asked clearly. Talking about yourself, your plans for the future, your interests. Managing simple phone calls and informal conversations with a small group of people. Present, present continious and future forms. Some conditional, imperative and/or past forms. Direct and Indirect objects. Some interrogative and possessive pronouns.

ADVANCED 1: Understanding all kinds of texts: from letters written by native speakers to newspaper articles specialized in politics, economy or culture. Knowing how to write formal and informal letters. Also writing compositions about several topics. Talking, discussing and expressing opinions about almost any familiar subject. Phone calls are not so difficult anymore. Talking about the past (childhood, memories). Understanding the main topics shown on a movie, a television/radio broadcast. Following a conversation between other people if you are near them. Present, future and past forms. Some forms of the imperative mode. Different pronouns, prepositions and adverbs. Starting to learn the Subjunctive mode.
ADVANCED 2: Reading all kind of texts, the only difficulty may be some unknown words. Appreciating style differences. Writing long compositions on different subjects. Making some mistakes but, in general, writing very well. Talking and discussing all kind of topics with no difficulty. Handling phone calls very well and conversations with a group of people. Understanding in detail what is said on a TV/radio program or in a movie. Understanding almost everything a native speaker says to you. Needing to strengthen your knowledge of Subjunctive mode. Knowing almost all the tenses of the Indicative. Knowing how to relate sentences indicating cause, consequence, concession, opposition, etc.
